Boo Plushie Guide

Make your own adorably shy ghost plush!

I was thinking about a possible Luigi's Mansion photoshoot for Concolor's awesome Luigi costume. Why not make a Boo plushie to go with the costume? Boos are awfully cute (even though they'll try to eat your head if you turn your back on them), and their shape is fairly simple. I put together a basic booprint blueprint of Boo first.

Boo Plushie Instructions

Using these ideas, I started making a plushie. The first one didn't turn out exactly as I wanted it to, so I kept working until I was pleased with my ghostly plushie.

Boo Version 1

The body is made of four segment pieces and two segment + tail pieces. I'm not delighted with how it turned out, but I got a lot of positive comments on Cosplay.com for this Boo.

The body is too short and squat - it should be taller and leaner. This plushie is shaped too much like a grapefruit. The arms are sewn too far back, and they're not even. The tail worked out well, though.

Fabric paint didn't work well for the face. The surface is too curved and bumpy to get a good set of features. The next version will have felt for the eyes and mouth. The eyes should probably be higher on the head and the mouth needs to be larger.

Boo Version 1.1

Mouth made of felt rather than paint.

Future plans (after the main Boo is perfected):
- Shy Boo (blushing)
- Lady Bow (Paper Mario)
